Come join the Canadian Association of New York for a unique opportunity to hear the writers and cast of the award-winning Canadian play, SIA. Given four stars by the Toronto's Eye Weekly and Winner of the 2010 Alberta Playwriting Competition, SIA is the fascinating story of a former child soldier who takes a Canadian University student hostage in a Liberian refugee camp in West Africa.

This reading will feature its original cast including Jajube Mandiela and Brendan McMurtry-Howlett of Degrassi: The Next Generation, as well as Thomas Olajide, a recent graduate from the prestigious National Theatre School of Canada.The running time will be approximately 50 minutes followed by a brief question-and-answer period with the writer and cast.

This event is presented by The Bridge Theatre Company as part of the first Preview of the Arts at Joe's Pub. Founded in 2004, The Bridge Theatre Company is a New York city-based organization that produces, develops and champions new Canadian work in New York City. Preview of the Arts in an innovative event that provides audiences behind-the-scenes sneak peaks at a variety of artistic work that will premiere in the 2010-11 season.
