Welcome to the home of the Maple Leaf Ball, the annual black-tie charity gala dinner for the Canadians and friends of Canada in New York, to be held on Friday March 8, 2019 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City.  The Ball has a long rich history and is the largest and most important fund-raising event that supports the Canadian Association of New York Foundation. Over the years with the help of events like the Ball, the Foundation has donated over two million dollars to charities in our community.

We are very excited to announce our 2019 honorees:

The 2019 Maple Leaf Award of Distinction will be presented to Michael Sabia, O.C., President and Chief Executive Officer of Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ).  The Maple Leaf Award of Distinction celebrates the career accomplishments and philanthropic contributions of a Canadian leader in Canada, the U.S. and throughout the world.  We are very proud to be honoring Mr. Sabia given his remarkable career contributing to the rejuvenation and transformation of several iconic Canadian companies, most recently his accomplishments leading CDPQ, one of Canada’s most prominent domestic and international businesses.

The 2019 Arts & Letters Award will be presented to Edward Burtynsky, O.C., renowned photographer. The Arts and Letters Award celebrates the career of a prominent Canadian from the arts, entertainment or media industry. We are thrilled to be celebrating the exemplary career of Mr. Burtynsky, one of the world's most accomplished contemporary photographers. His remarkable photographic depictions of global industrial landscapes are included in the collections of over sixty major museums around the world, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid, the Tate Modern in London, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in California.
